Who is Wake Up?
In 2005, a group of Newcastle medical students with a vision for developing world health founded a student interest group to facilitate and empower individuals sharing this passion.
The result was Wake Up!, an organisation which now, five years later, has grown to facilitate the involvement of medical students and members of the Newcastle community in many global health initiatives.
As a member of the Australian Medical Students Association Global Health Network (AMSA GHN), Wake Up! is able to collaborate with 20 global health groups from medical schools across Australia.
Through this overarching network Wake Up! is able to participate and contribute to GHN activities such as the GHN National Project and National Advocacy campaigns.
Our Mission
To raise awareness of global health inequities, and provide students with knowledge of, and experience in, the developing world that will enable our future health professionals to be well equipped to address and influence health inequities globally.
Values
Sustainability, Empowerment, and Integrity in its initiatives and process
Our Aims & Objectives
